Beeswing: Losing My Way and Finding My Voice, 1967-1975
A Memoir
In the midst of the tumultuous 1960s and 1970s, a young woman named Sarah embarked on a journey of self-discovery and finding her voice. Beeswing is a memoir that chronicles her experiences, from her early years as a shy and insecure girl to her transformation into a confident and outspoken woman.
Sarah's journey begins in the small town of Willow Creek, Ohio. She is a bright and curious child, but she is also painfully shy. She is afraid to speak up in class, and she avoids social situations whenever possible. As she enters adolescence, Sarah's shyness only intensifies. She feels like an outsider, and she longs to find a place where she belongs.

In 1967, Sarah's life takes a dramatic turn. She meets a group of young people who are involved in the civil rights movement. For the first time, Sarah feels like she has found a community that she can truly connect with. She begins to participate in protests and marches, and she slowly but surely starts to find her voice.
As Sarah becomes more involved in the movement, she also begins to explore her own sexuality. She falls in love with a woman named Mary, and she discovers a whole new world of possibilities. However, her newfound happiness is short-lived. In 1973, Mary is killed in a car accident. Sarah is devastated, and she feels like her whole world has been shattered.
In the aftermath of Mary's death, Sarah struggles to find her way. She drops out of college, and she moves from one dead-end job to another. She is lost and alone, and she feels like she has no purpose in life.
But even in her darkest moments, Sarah never gives up hope. She knows that she has a story to tell, and she is determined to find her voice. In 1975, Sarah begins to write her memoir. It is a difficult and painful process, but it is also a cathartic one. Through her writing, Sarah is able to come to terms with her past and to find her voice at last.
